President Trump Signed a Proclamation that deployed troops at the Mexico border. The Federal immigration authorities will direct enforcement efforts. Until there is a wall the military will guard the border against immigrants. The National Guard will have no contact with the immigrants but will help in the form of surveillance from the air.

Illegal immigration decreased during the first months of Trump’s administration. The White house states that the troops are sent in response to an unacceptable flow of criminal activity, drugs and illegal immigrants.

This is not the first time the National Guard is sent to the Border. In 2006 George Bush sent 6,000 National Guard troops to California, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.

There were tensions at the border in 1997 when a U.S. Marine shot an American high school student who was herding sheep.

The troops at the border will cost a lot of money until the wall is built.
