The story starts with an english teacher Mr Mazuchelli(Josh Radnor) who talks to the principal about becoming the head of the theatre department. He takes over the theatre and realizes that there is a teacher who was filling that spot named Tracy.

Tracy decides to work with Mr Mazzu but they bump heads when Mr Mazzu makes significant of changes. Instead of producing Grease, the high school crew will now produce Spring Awakening which consists of abortion, gay men, and death.

The students are willing to do the play even though it has inappropriate content but the principal shuts the production down.

The high school students also have problems of their own. Lisa Rodriguez(Auli’i Cravalho) is working as a waitress to help her mother. Robbie Thorne has a mother who is in the hospital and a father who pressures him to do football. Masseuse has a foster parent who doesn’t care for him. And Simon’s parents make him leave the school and go to a private school because they disapprove of his gay character in Spring Awakening

This show relates to teens and should be seen by everyone. We can connect to the characters and their emotions.
