Francis Lawrence was born on March 26, 1971 in Vienna, Austria. He is a director and producer best known for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), I Am Legend (2007), and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 (2014). Lawrence is also a popular music video director

Francis Lawrence was passionate about filming since he was young. Lawrence took film classes in high school. After high school, he continued to study film at Loyola Marymount University, after graduating he began his career when he started making music videos for a friend who owned a small record label.

Lawrence wasn’t born famous, he worked hard for several years and gained fame. Lawrence worked as a 2nd assistant camera on Pump up the Volume by Allan Moyle before getting his bachelor’s degree at LMU. In 1993 he worked as 1st assistant director on the feature Marching out on Time by Anton Vassil. Later he went to work with his former classmate, Michael Jason Rosen, on co-directing music videos. Francis Lawrence won a Grammy for best short form music video for Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance. He has directed music videos for: Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Bad Religion, Michelle Branch, Ginuwine, Audioslave, Third Eye Blind, Gwen Stefani, The Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Green Day, Nelly Furtado, and Destiny’s Child.

Lawrence has also directed a music video for: Justin Timberlake, Incubus, Will Smith, Goo Goo Dolls, Aerosmith, Janet Jackson, P.O.D., Shakira, Alanis Morisette, P!nk, and Avril Lavigne. Francis Lawrence had a net worth of $1,000,000 in 2015.
